With its spacious exhibit hall and additional ballroom and meeting spaces in Syracuse, NY, the Oncenter was the perfect venue for the Syracuse City School District (SCSD) to hold its Summer Summit.
The Summit focused on professional development for between 500 and 4000 teachers, administrators, and other education professionals across the three day-event.
Having entered into a strategic partnership earlier this year with The Oncenter, an ASM Global managed facility, Cheshire AV became the preferred in-house AV vendor. Cheshire was pleased to provide services for this important event, the goal of which was “building culturally responsive schools and personalizing learning for all students to advance equity and excellence in the district.”
Following the motivational keynote addresses, attendees chose from among 120 different programs featured through panel discussions, breakouts, and general sessions.
Sean Connolly, Cheshire’s Director of Event & Audio-Visual Operations at the OnCenter explained that, in the main exhibit hall in which all keynote and general sessions were held, Cheshire’s Senior Audio Visual Technician Josh Burke ran the production while a video professional captured the presentations for projection across three screens using IMAG (image magnification). The audio engineer ensured the sound quality, which was broadcast using both hanging and floor-standing audio equipment. Each breakout room was supplied with the technology needed for the sessions taking place in that room throughout the day.
Having recently taken over Audiovisual at the Oncenter, Cheshire was pleased to be able to showcase the scope of its capabilities to both the educational and political community in Syracuse, since some sessions were also attended by County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II and Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh.
“The client was thrilled,” said Sean, stating how pleased he was that representatives from both the school district and the Oncenter made a point of commenting on how successful they felt the event was, and how smoothly it ran.
