Warehouse & Logistics Manager
What inspired you to get into your current career?
Family. I had been working overnights and was responsible for getting our kids on and off the school bus. That granted me sleep between about 9am and 3pm. My kindergartener son was super-shy, and one day I slept through my alarm, missing his afternoon drop-off. I waited out front for what seemed to be forever, hoping the bus was running a little late. One of the neighbors stopped by to let me know the bus driver would bring him back around once his route was done.
That also took seemingly an eternity, and I felt like the worst parent ever, even though it did not appear to have any effect on my son.
About that time, my brother was working as a recruiter and had a warehouse position with a tradeshow company, for which I was hired. I’ve been in the events industry ever since (18 years and counting).
What is your personal philosophy about working with clients?
Ooooh, without clients there is nothing…no business, no employees, zilch.
My favorite quote, by Lee Iacocca ties in with this: “Business comes down to three things: People, Product and Profits. People come first.”
I truly value the relationships side of business, both with co-workers as well as with clients, and I really enjoy collaborating to come up with the best solutions to any challenges.
If you were a Superhero, who would you be, and why?
I’d be Captain Teammate… kind of behind-the-scenes, to make sure everyone is on the same page and has the resources necessary to perform their best. I may not ‘set the world on fire’ but I am certainly going to do my best to help others with their endeavors to do so….
