NVSBC VETS24 Conference in Orlando, FL

Get an insider's view of the National Veteran Business Coalition's VETS24 Conference, for which Cheshire provided AV.

About VETS24 Conference

Earlier this year, we had the honor of working on the VETS24 Conference, held by the National Veteran Small Business Coalition at the 4-star Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando.

This Conference is NVSBC’s premier annual event focused on helping Veterans grow their businesses. It brings together procurement-ready small businesses with buyers and Procurement Decision Makers (PDMs) from both Federal agencies and large GovCon prime contractors.

An Insider’s Look at the Show

Todd Uckermark served as Cheshire’s Account Manager on the show, working with an AV team from Cheshire and several freelancers from the Florida region that Cheshire has worked with in the past.

In January of this year, Todd transitioned from being  Production Manager to Account Manager, after “understudying” it for some time.  One of the main differences he sees between the two functions is that he has enhanced responsibility to stay on top of all show logistics and communicate them to his team. He also appreciates that the role allows him to develop deeper relationships with Cheshire’s clients.

Todd shares that every show is unique and has its own puzzles to solve.  For example, on this show, after the Fire Marshal had approved the plans for seating, the room had to be reset to accommodate attendees, requiring the plans be redrawn and resubmitted to the Marshal for approval.

Most elements of the show were standard for both the general session and the breakouts. One difference was that the organization decided to use touch-screen wayfinding monitors mounted on custom stands, positioned around the show floor which allowed attendees to see the layout of the exhibit floor, access the website for the show schedule and details. To help control costs, rather than fly the audio equipment, which requires truss and motors from the in-house AV provider, the speakers were mounted on crank lifts that elevated them sufficiently to provide good audio quality.  Todd was quick to compliment Cheshire’s Max Mannino, on the handling of the sometimes-challenging audio.

Todd also complimented Independent Meeting Planner Sara Stehle, CAE, CMP, saying she was a real pleasure to work with, extremely well organized, and on top of every detail.

The team was happy to discover the following unsolicited testimonial that Event Emcee Joshua Frank, MIS, MBA, Managing Partner of RSM Federal left on Google:

Emcee Testimonial

Joshua P. Frank, Founder and Managing Partner, RSM Federal“With close to 2,000 attendees, the AV requirements needed to be world class. I simply cannot say enough positive things about the Cheshire team. As an emcee for a major national event, the audio, the video, the slide decks, and switching out from podium, to mics, to lavaliers, streamlining multiple decks throughout the day, and managing the lighting…was nothing short of excellence.

I can’t tell you how many times I would be on stage and simply look to the back of the ballroom (and I can’t really see the team because it’s so far away) and they just knew what I wanted. In a matter of seconds the AV is switched to the device I needed.

Every time I turned around, someone from the Cheshire team was positioned within 20 feet of me and if I even looked like I needed something, I had their ear in a matter of seconds.

I don’t often leave reviews for companies, but the level of professionalism, proactiveness, and expertise was nothing short of spectacular.

If you need an AV team for your event, whether it’s a small local event or large national one, this team has the capability to run any size event you can hold and they have the professionalism and expertise to run it flawlessly. Simply world class. Kudos to the entire Cheshire team.”

It was our pleasure to work with Josh and with the entire events team at National Veteran Small Business Coalition.

Cheshire looks forward to partnering with National Veteran Small Business Coalition on VETS25 again next year at the Rosen Center in Florida!
